Software Development:
NIH_ReSyP – Reservoir Systems Package
The NIH_ReSyP Model
A reservoir is an important component of a water resources development project. Principal function of a reservoir is to regulate the natural streamflow thereby, changing the temporal and spatial availability of water for beneficial purposes such as municipal and industrial water supply, irrigation, hydropower generation, and navigation.
Reservoirs are commonly built in India for conservation and flood control purposes. Because of the high time and space variability of rainfall, reservoirs play very important role in the planning and management of water resources. More than 3000 major and medium dams have already been completed. Thus, a need was felt to develop a comprehensive software for Reservoir Analysis. The NIH-Reservoir Systems Package (NIH_ReSyP) software developed by NIH, Roorkee, consists of many modules related to reservoir system analysis as given below:
- Capacity computation
- Elevation-area-capacity computation
- Inflow estimation
- Reservoir routing
- Reservoir sedimentation
- Firm hydropower analysis
- Conservation operation of multipurpose multi-reservoir system
- Flood control operation of multipurpose multi-reservoir system
- Construction of spillway rating curves
- Rainfall-runoff
